A nominee or aspirant for any position or honor, particularly a public office . The nominee of a political party who has accepted a nomination . Broadly interpreted to include all persons voted for whether they put themselves forward or are put forward, even if contrary to their own wishes, by a group or a party. state ex rel. Graham v Hall, 15 N. W.2d 736, 73 N.D. 428.
