Meaning of As their interest may appear
The expression “as their interest may appear,” used in a fire insurance policy relating to the interest of a mortgagee, has relation to and contemplates an insurable interest in the mortgagee which exists at the time the contract was made, and has no application to any new interest not then in existence, such as a simple contract indebtedness Incurred by the mortgagor to the mortgagee and not secured by the mortgage. 94 111. App. 499.
