In the sale of goods , in an as is condition , the phrase means that the vendor is not making any representations on the quality of the goods and that the buyer is relying on his own examination of the same. See U.C.C. §2-316. As is stipulation means that the thing is not warranted to be in perfect condition and free from all defects which prior use and age may cause .
