Animal Welfare

Animal welfare in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, animal welfare is: a subject proposed by the European Community and Switzerland with the support of European non-governmental organizations for inclusion as a non-trade concern in the WTO negotiations on agriculture. The aim of the proposal is to achieve recognition that compensation payments relating to animal welfare are not trade-distorting, and that it should be possible to include them in the green box.[1]
