Meaning of Ac etiam billae
(Law Lat. and also to a bill). The initial words of a clause inserted in a writ of capias ad respondendum,. where bail is required, in order to express the true cause of action; the writ requiring the defendant “to answer the plaintiff of a plea of trespass, and also to a bill of tha plaintiff” against the defendant, for whatever the real cause of action may be. 3 Bl. Comm. 288; Id. Append. No. 3, § 3. See “Capias ad Respondendum.” This clause is now dispensed with in the process of the English courts. St. 2 Wm. IV. c. 39. See “Bill.”
