The definition of Ab invito in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:

Unwillingly; against one’s will. A conveyance or transfer “ab invito” would therefore, unless mandated by law, ordinarily be invalid, since most such transactions are not legally binding if the result of force or threat of force.
