Meaning of Unjust Enrichment

It is where a person creates a benefit for himself by imposing an improper and unjust loss on another. The term is loosely applied to situations of quasi contracts such as money had and received, money given under mistake of fact, etc., but strictly, it does not establish a cause of action under the common law.
