Unbound Commitments
Unbound commitments in Global Commerce Policy
In this regard, unbound commitments is: commitments under the GATS (General Agreement on Trade in Services) which can be changed unilaterally by the country making them. They give the listing country complete flexibility to change its trading regime in the affected activity without the need to offer compensation. The entries on trade policy in the Encyclopedia are here. Unbound commitments are therefore much less valuable than binding commitments, though they may in some cases assist transparency.[1]
