Meaning of Rogatory Letters

A commission issued by a court having jurisdiction over a cause to the court of another jurisdiction requesting that the deposition of a witness within the jurisdiction of the foreign court be taken for purposes of an action pending in the former jurisdiction. Also see letters rogatory .
