Meaning of Resettlement

A term denoting the mode or process by which under feudal system, the eldest son, having attained the age of majority , acquires an entailed interest in the remainder on property that has been settled on the marriage, and bars his entail with the consent of the father upon the terms that the property is resettled on the son for life with remainder to the children of the son in tail.
