Meaning of Rehearing
The retrial of a cause that has already been adjudicated upon. A second consideration of a cause for sole purpose of calling to attention of court any error, omission or oversight that may have been committed in the first consideration. See Cole v Cole, (Fla.App.) 130 So.2d 126. It refers to a reconsideration of a case by same court in which original determination was made. See Colvin v Goldenberg, 273 A.2d 663, 108 R.1.198.
Rehearing Alternative Definition
In Appellate Practice. A second consideration, on further argument, given to a cause after decision. In Chancery Practice. A retrial of the issues; a new trial. See “New Trial.”
