Meaning of Quasi Corporation

A body which exercises certain functions of a corporation but which is not deemed created a corporation by any act, general or special of the legislative authority . See school district v St.Joseph F. & M. Ins. Co., 103 U.S. 707, 26 L.Ed. 601. Thus a joint stock corporation, which is organized and derives its existence from the contract of individuals, has been described as a quasi corporation by reason of its sharing some of the features of corporations. See state ex. rel. Railroad and warehouse Com. v Adams Exp. Co., 66 Minn. 271, 68 N. W. 1085.
