Meaning of Permanent Disability

In the context of statutes regulating Workmens Compensation, the term denotes a degree of incapacity or disability as a result of which the worker’s earning power is wholly destroyed. However, the term does not exclude the employee from being able to perform light work or that there is still residual usefulness in the injured member of the worker’s body. See Joliet & E. Traction Co. v industrial Com., 299 III. 517, 132 N.E. 794; also Salazar v Kaiser Steel Corp., 85 N.M. 254, 511 P.2d 580.
