In matrimonial actions, the phrase denotes conduct causing embarrassment, humiliation and anguish so as to render life miserable and unendurable or to cause spouse ‘s life, person or health to become endangered. See Collins v Collins, 361 N.E.2d 787, 47 III. App.3d 258.
