Massachusetts Burma Law in Global Commerce Policy
In this regard, massachusetts burma law is: adopted by the Massachusetts state legislature in 1996 to promote improvements in human rights policies in Burma. The law gave companies avoiding doing business with Burma a 10% preference margin in purchases by the Massachusetts state government. Following a challenge by the National Foreign Trade Council the Supreme Court held in 1998 that the law was an infringement of the exclusively federal constitutional right to regulate foreign trade.[1]
