Meaning of Lords of Appeal in Ordinary

Persons appointed by the King for the purpose of aiding the House of Lords in the hearing and determination of appeals ; they must have held some high judicial office for two years, or have been practising barristers or advocates for at least fifteen years; they are barons for life, and are entitled to sit and vote in the House of Lords during their tenure of office. (Appellate Jurisdiction Act, 1876, 1913.)
