Meaning of Judicial Proceeding

Generally, any proceeding taken in a court of law for the prosecution or defense of an action , to obtain such relief as the law allows; wherein there are parties who have the opportunity to be heard and wherein the tribunal proceeds to a determination of facts and the law upon such facts, upon the evidence adduced before it. As opposed to a tribunal merely exercising a regulative, ministerial or executive jurisdiction .
