Meaning of Indifference, Indifferent

in addition to the common meaning of reckless , careless , heedless , inattentive, neglectful or negligent, the term indifferent has a peculiar meaning in law. A party or a person is said to be indifferent in a pending action when the mind of such person is neutral as respects the parties and the matter to be tried, that he has no bias for or against either party and that he is prepared to weigh the evidence in impartial scales.
