Making up a list of jurors for a trial or selecting those who will actually serve.
Impanel Alternative Definition
In Old English Practice. To write the names of jurors on a panel, which is an oblong piece of parchment attached to the venire. This is done by the sheriff, or other officer lawfully authorized. In American Practice. The word is used of a jury drawn for trial of a particular cause by the clerk, as well as of the general list of jurors returned by the sheriff. Graham, Prac. 275. See 1 Arch.
