Meaning of Hydraulic mining
(Hydraulicing.) The process of mining gold and other precious minerals by forcing water, at great pressure though pipers or hose upon deposits of earth which contain the minerals. A considerable portion of the earth and debris is carried away through the sluices, at the bottom of which the heavier minerals remain. 81 Fed. 243; 9 Saw. 441; Raymond, 498 Gloss.
