Meaning of Herald
A diplomatic messenger who carried messages between states, and especially proclamations of war, peace or truce . The person of the herald was considered inviolable by the nations. An officer who registers geneologies, adjusts armorial bearings and regulates the ceremonies at royal coronations and funerals.
Herald Alternative Definition
( from French, herault). An officer whose business it is to register: genealogies, adjust ensigns armorial, regulate funerals and coronations, and, anciently, to carry messages between princes and proclaim war and peace.
