Meaning of Half-mark

A noble or six shillings and eight pence in English money . where in a writ of right , the plaintiff alleged seisin in himself or his ancestor , the defendant was not allowed to deny same but he could tender the half-mark and thereby put the plaintiff upon proof of the alleged seisin.
