Meaning of False Pretense
A representation of a past or existing fact, by words or otherwise , that is known by the person making it to be false : and that is made with a fraudulent intent to induce the person to whom it is made to act upon same. See People v Sobeik, 30 Cal. App.3d 458, 106 Cal. Rptr. 519, cert. den. 414 U.S. 855.
