Meaning of Exclusive

Intended for or pertaining to the subject alone; not shared. Exclusive jurisdiction is synonymous with absolute jurisdiction. Also, it precludes the idea of co existence of jurisdiction in another body or tribunal

Exclusive Alternative Definition

(Lat. ex, out, claudere, to shut). Shutting out; debarring from participation. Shut out; not included. An exclusive right or privilege, as a copyright or patent, is one which may be exercised and enjoyed only by the person authorized, while all others are forbidden to interfere. A special grant of power is not exclusive merely because no one else happens to possess it, so long as there is nothing to prevent its granting to another. “An act does not grant an exclusive privilege or franchise unless it shuts out or excludes others from enjoying a similar privilege or franchise.” 98 N. Y. 139.
