Meaning of Et sic

(Law Lat. and so). The commencement of a formula, as, et sic nil debet, et sic nan est factum, formerly used as a special conclusion to a plea in bar, in order to render it positive, and to avoid the fault of argumentativeness. Archb. Civ. PI. 224; Mansel, Demurrer, 75.
