Meaning of Estate Of Inheritance

A freehold estate that descends to the heirs of the holder of the estate upon his death under the laws relating to succession . Estates of freehold are divided into those of inheritance and those not of inheritance. while all estates of inheritance are freehold, the converse is not true; for a life estate and other estates of indefinite duration are also freehold but not of inheritance. See Beirl v Columbia county , 144 P. 457, 73 Or. 107.
