Effective Date of Termination
English Legal System: Effective Date of Termination
In the context of the English law, A Dictionary of Law provides the following legal concept of Effective Date of Termination : The date on which a contract of employment comes to an end, i.e. the date of expiry of any *notice given or of a fixed-term contract or the date of the employee’s dismissal or resignation if no notice is given. However, an employee dismissed without the statutory minimum notice is treated as having worked for that period after his dismissal for the purpose of calculating whether or not his length of service (See continuous employment) qualifies him to apply to an employment tribunal in respect of redundancy, unfair dismissal, etc.
