Deprive in the Dictionary of Law consisting of Judicial Definitions and Explanations of Words, Phrases and Maxims
Referring to property taken under the power of eminent domain, means the same as “take”. Sharpless v. Philadelphia, 21 Pa. 167 (1853); Grant v. Courter,24 Barb. 238 (1857). While the Fourteenth Amendment ordains that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law”, no definition of the word “deprive” is found in the Constitution. See further Take.
