Meaning of Commutation of tax
The term is used where there is a substitution of one form of payment for another for taxes levied. Laws regulating the commutation of taxes may be enacted by the legislature.(31 Ala. 91), provided there is no violation of the constitution, and the privilege to commute is extended to all classes alike, fairly and impartially (21 N. J. 557; 31 Ala. 91; 76 111. 11).
