Meaning of Combination, Combines
To bring or come into a close union , blend, compound , unite. The union of two or more persons for the attainment of some common end. A Ibrecht v herald Co., (C.A.8) 367 F.2d 517. In patent law, the term means a composition of old or new elements and it is patentable if it produces new and useful results though all its constituents are well known and in common use before it was made, provided the results are a product of the combination and not a mere aggregate of several results, if it produces a different force , effect , or result in the combined forces, or processes from that given by their separate parts, or if the elements of which it is composed produce by their joint action a new and useful result, or an old result in a new, cheaper or otherwise more advantageous way.
