Cessante ratione in the Dictionary of Law consisting of Judicial Definitions and Explanations of Words, Phrases and Maxims
Also “cessat ipsa lex.” The reason ceasing, the law itself ceases. When the reason, which is the soul of the law, ceases to exist, the law itself should lose its operative effect.
