Definition of Bill in the nature of a bill of review

In the United States, Bill in the nature of a bill of review is an equitable bill brought by a person who was not a party to the original suit seeking to have a court decree set aside. This is usually brought before the decree is entered in the record. A bill of review must be based upon an error of law or for some newly discovered matter of fact, relevant to the case, which could not have been reasonably discovered before. Bills in the nature of a bill of review were abolished in federal practice by Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 60(b).
