The definition of Bad in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:

The opposite of good, i.e., a general pejorative evincing disapproval of whatever is so labelled, e.g., bad debt, bad moral character. In modern slang, however, bad can be used to mean good in the sense of powerful and dangerous, as in “bad machine” (for a monstrous motorcycle) or (used of a person) “He”s real bad.”
