What does Among mean in American Law?

The definition of Among in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:

Can be used to mean “mingled with” or “in the middle of,” as in “among the alien corn.” But the word is more frequently used as the equivalent of “between” when more than two entities are involved, e.g., “The remainder of my estate is to be divided among my brothers and sisters,” where the implication is that the division should be made “equally” or “per capita.”
