What does Agency to sell mean in American Law?

The definition of Agency to sell in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:

An agency relationship in which the agent has the power to sell goods of, or on behalf of, the principal. It can be implied in fact from the agent’s power to effect other business of the principal to which sale of goods is a usual incident. When real property is involved, it is rare that the agent will have implied-in-fact authority, real property ordinarily being sold by special agency or authorization. See real estate broker.
