What does Absinthe mean in American Law?

The definition of Absinthe in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:

An alcoholic beverage flavored with, among other things, the aromatic herb wormwood. Genuine absinthe (there are innocuous imitations) is allegedly capable of turning a brain to mush and a liver to stone substantially more quickly than ordinary alcohol, and is therefore banned in the United States.
